It is interesting to see how much people are willing to spend while shopping from their mobile device. There are some great statistics provided from JiWire’s Mobile Audience Report Q3 2012.
According to the report, 66% of consumers are willing to make mobile purchases of $50 or more, compared to 53% in Q3 2011. That is a 13% increase in one year! Another interesting statistic outlines those not willing to make mobile online purchases declined from 32% to 14% from Q3 2011 to Q3 2012.
Where consumers typically spend their time doing the research when they are shopping for a $100 product from their mobile device? 69% of consumers spend time researching items from their mobile device at home.
Shoppers also use their mobile devices while shopping in-store. 85% percent of mobile shoppers use their device while in-store in Q3 2012. This represents a 33% increase from the 64% that shopped in-store on their mobile device in Q3 of 2011.
Comparison shopping and searching for product reviews remained the two most popular activities. Consumers are staying very savvy and continuously using their mobile phones and tablets to find the best prices, discounts, and promo codes while shopping.
It is an interesting point that consumers purchasing product from their mobile device while in store grew from 19% to 27% from Q3 2011 to Q3 2012. This may be due to the fact that there are simply more online promotions, discounts, free shipping, or product availability than in store.
