“WOW!!! THAT’S A LOW PRICE!”, is only the beginning when trying to describe my first impressions on the new Pantech Discover on AT&T. Let’s not get into the $$$ part just yet. Let us converse for a moment about all you get for that low, low price.
A super crisp 4.8-inch screen, 12.6-megapixel camera, and a dual core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Other features include an expandable microSD card slot – up to another 32 gigs, (16 gb internal), a frickin removable battery (Thank you!), NFC, blazing fast 4G LTE, and a 2-megapixel front facing camera for those super cute Facebook profile pictures you like to post… all by yourself… in the bathroom. (Don’t worry. No one is judging you. I don’t have any friends to take my profile picture at 2 o’clock in the morning either).
All of that sounds pretty familiar, right? Galaxy S3, HTC One X… Motorola Atrix HD. It comes out of the box running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but Pantech promises to pass along that Jelly Bean goodness here in the not-so-distant future.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this phone ROCKS. Literally. Pantech has incorporated two fairly loud AND CRISP stereoscopic “3D” speakers in a neat, ergonomic design. It’s fluid. Feels quite comfortable in your hand. Even with it’s 4.8 inch screen, it still just feels like it belongs in your hand. Beveled glass and tapered edges help that along quite a bit.
